Broaching & Spline Machining Capabilities

At Hayes Couplings, we invest heavily in our shop to control every stage of manufacturing our power transmission components, from raw material to finished product. By keeping broaching, hobbing, and full-service machining in-house, we ensure the highest quality, tightest tolerances, and efficient production while allowing our engineering and manufacturing teams to collaborate closely on every component.

Broaching Capabilities

We operate seven horizontal broaching machines to produce a wide range of internal splines and keyways for our products. Whether for prototypes or production volumes, our in-house capabilities deliver precision and consistency.

Internal Broaching Includes:

  • Straight-Sided Splines
  • JIS (Japanese Standard) Splines
  • Inch and Metric Keyways

Our extensive tooling inventory allows us to handle diverse specifications and quickly adapt to new designs.

Spline Hobbing

For external spline applications, our hobbing equipment and tooling allow us to create precise, durable splines that integrate seamlessly with our components.

Full-Service Machining

Supported by a complete machining department, we handle the entire lifecycle of our components in-house, ensuring quality and consistency at every step.

  • 16 Horizontal Lathes (up to 16″)
  • 2 Vertical Lathes (up to 23″)
  • 10 Vertical Mills (with 4th Axis)
  • 2 Production Saws
  • 7 Horizontal Broaching Machines (5–10 Ton)
  • 1 Hobbing Machine
  • 1 Hone
